It’s the time of the year to think about your A/C unit maintenance.

Most systems are split systems. The outdoor compressor/condenser coil and the indoor evaporator coil. The evaporator coil my be difficult to examine however, you can take a quick look at your outdoor unit. Look for debris in the coils. This will decrease its efficiency and ability to transfer heat to the outside. In addition, check your line set going into the house. The larger line should be insulated. This insulation tends to dry rot, crack and fall off the line. Replacement insulation is inexpensive and easy to install. There are numerous YouTube videos on how to clean your unit DIY style and replace the insulation. However, it is best to contact your HVAC provider for annual service. They can do a thorough cleaning and evaluation to keep your unit running smoothly and efficiently (i.e. save money on cooling bills).
